Welcoming your new baby into the world is one of the most emotional and life changing experiences. I want to capture those feelings for you to hold onto forever. I create natural & relaxed photos by focussing on you, your baby and the beautiful bond you have with each other.
In my experience, it can be incredibly overwhelming when you bring your newborn home and the thought of trying to get out of the house is not always easy at first. For this reason, I have created a tranquil and homely studio so that you feel comfortable and at ease during your newborn photoshoot. I look forward to meeting you and capturing this special time for you.

What to Expect
One
Location
Rest assured, the studio is easily accessible. Located in New Moston, close to surrounding areas of Failsworth, Oldham, Manchester, Bury, Prestwich, Ashton, Stockport and is only a few minutes from the M60.

Parking
My beautiful home studio has FREE visitor parking (V) right outside the house, making it really easy to access with a baby.
Three
Session
When you arrive at my home studio you will be welcomed with a nice hot or a cold drink of your choice. I want you to feel at home and be as comfortable as possible, please feel free to bring some snacks with you. I have a changing mat with spare newborn nappies and other essential bits and bobs available should you need them during your photography session.
Your session will last up to two hours and we will start with family images including the parents, baby and any other siblings who attend. I am all about capturing your family’s natural and authentic connection and therefore I merely give gentle direction, rather than staged posing.
I will then focus on creating photos of your newborn and I love to capture your baby’s sweet little features including; their tiny fingers and toes, ears and baby hair. In years to come, all of these images will help you remember how tiny and new they once were.
Pricing
A £50 booking fee/deposit is required at the time of booking in order to secure your due date in my diary.
I only book a limited number of newborns per month to make sure I have enough availability for when babies arrive either before or after their due date.
Once baby has arrived, we book in the exact date and time for your session, usually when baby is 1-3 weeks old.
* The minimum Love package is to be purchased/paid for on the day of session.
* Your booking fee/deposit/voucher will be deducted from your chosen package.
* You have the option to upgrade your package at your viewing session if you wish.
* Please note, your booking fee/deposit/voucher is non-refundable, but is transferable to another date if rearranged within 48 hours of your current booked session date.

All of the images are printed onto the best quality paper. In addition to the prints you receive within your chosen package, you can order additional prints of your favourite photos. We offer professional grade prints as standard.
Your digital images have been handled and refinded in my signature style presented in high resolution. The digital file collections include all printing rights.
I understand that having the flexibility of buying the digital files allows you to produce prints, enlargements and albums. However, I firmly believe that the beautiful images we are going to create deserve to be displayed using only the best quality photos.
Additional products, albums and prints can be purchased at the viewing.
Wall Art
I ask all of my clients to think about where in your home you would love to display your photos. Have you got an empty wall in need of some colour and homeliness? Let’s complete that empty space with a custom designed individual piece of collection of wall art for your family.

Your Questions
When should I book my session?
I recommend booking your newborn photoshoot once you have had your 20 week scan.
Babies can arrive up to two weeks early or late, so we need a bit of “wiggle room” in the diary. I therefore can only book three sessions in a week (one session a day), so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.
I will book you in based on your due date and we then book the exact date and time once your baby has arrived.
The ideal time to photograph your baby is between 7-14 days of age. At this age your baby is still very sleepy and flexible and this allows us to safely and comfortably pose your baby in the beautiful dreamy, sleepy poses that are so popular.
It is always best to book in advance to guarantee my availability, however, if your baby has already arrived and would like to book a last minute session, please enquire as I will always try my best to accommodate you.
How do I book?
Simply get in touch using the form below. A £50 non refundable booking fee/deposit secures your date. The minimum love package is payable on the day of your session. The booking fee/deposit will be deducted from the love package.
At your Viewing appointment you can then select and choose to upgrade your package and purchase any wall art or printed products you would love to have as keepsakes.
How long is the shoot going to take?
A Newborn shoot is usually around 2 hours. This includes feeding, settling and changing. Some sessions can last longer (for example twins or when we have a very unsettled baby) For this reason I only book one session per day. Due to the fact babies can sense our mood, I never rush the shoot, so please do not plan anything else on the day. Newborns cannot be rushed and sometimes some extra time is needed. Patience is the key to a great newborn session.
Can siblings come too?
Of course! I encourage the parents and siblings to participate in the session. Previous clients with siblings have found it works best if we can start the session with the family/sibling photos and then grandparents/family can take them home or to nursey/school, leaving us to relax and capture your baby and parents together.
Where is the studio?
My home studio is located in New Moston, on the outskirts of Oldham/Manchester (we’re conveniently right in the middle). The studio is easily accessible from M60 with lots of parking available.
Please park in visitor spaces (labelled V) if these are full then please park on the curb near the grass. There’s plenty of room. Numbered parking bays belong to our neighbours so please do not park here.
My home from home studio has a quiet and tranquil setting to provide my clients with a relaxed photography portrait experience.
What about safety?
At Jodie Wellings Photography, I make safety and comfort of your baby an absolute priority. I practice safe posing techniques and there is always a supporting hand on or very close to your baby during the session. I have two beautiful Daughters myself so I know how it feels in those first few days when you get home with a brand new baby!
I am completely baby-led and no poses are ever forced, and if your baby doesn’t feel comfortable in any of them, I move on to the next.
Do I have to prepare on the morning of my session?
Upon booking you will be sent this information.
What shall I bring with me to session?
I usually have plenty of hot and cold drinks available. However, I would suggest that you bring along some food, especially if mum is breast feeding. Plenty of milk for baby if not breast feeding. If your baby takes a dummy: bring it with you. I always suggest a change of clothes in case your little one decides to go to the toilet whilst you are holding him/her.
Do I have to buy a package?
The minimum Love Package is to be purchased/paid for on the day of session. Booking fee/deposit will be deducted from the package price.
When will I see my images?
Approx 1-2 weeks after your photoshoot, you will come back to the studio for your Viewing Appointment. You will see your images for the first time via a music slideshow.
What if my baby doesn't cooperate on the day?
Babies are unpredictable and your whole world has just changed with the introduction of your little bundle of joy.
For this reason, I only schedule one session a day so that both you and your baby can have my undivided attention and care.
My newborn portrait experience is designed to be relaxed and baby-led. If you need to feed or change your baby, then that’s what we do. We don’t rush, we go with the flow, until you are happy and we create those much wanted forever memories.
What if my baby falls asleep?
Babies are often in and out of being asleep during a newborn session. It is always easier if your baby is asleep, however, please do not worry if they are awake as it means you get some dreamy open eyed photos! As long as baby is happy and settled I will take photographs either asleep or awake.
So glad we came to Jodie for our newborn photoshoot! She managed to fit us in last minute as I had forgot to book in. I was worried my son was too old and had lost the newborn scrunch so wanted to cancel, but Jodie worked her magic and managed to get the most beautiful pictures. I was very nervous how the shoot would go but within minutes of arriving Jodie put me at ease and I instantly felt relaxed!
